What’s New with Hearing Aids?
Hearing aid technology is just like every other type of technology: it is always evolving. Here’s one exciting new development in the world of hearing instruments!
Siemens Binax allow you to hear better than those with normal hearing in certain environments.
Siemens, one of the leading names in the industry, has a new hearing aid platform that boasts some large claims. The new Siemens Binax hearing aids can help listeners hear better in even the most difficult environments such as a cocktail party.
When I was first told that individuals wearing Siemens Binax hearing aids heard better in a cocktail-party situation than a normal hearing person, I have to admit I was incredulous. It has long been established that background noise is the largest complaint of hearing aid wearers. How could the new Binax product line now claim to excel in that very environment? Is it possible for a person wearing hearing aids to perform better than someone who has normal hearing?
Do these aids really work? Studies on the Binax platform.
Two independent studies say that it is. Both studies, the results of which can be found here, show that Speech Reception Thresholds (SRT) improved up to 2.9 dB for people wearing Siemens Binax hearing aids compared to people with normal hearing. This is a whopping 25% advantage in speech understanding!
How do these hearing aids work?
So how is this possible? Part of what makes the Binax platform so effective is the e2e wireless™ technology it utilizes. Through the e2e wireless technology, the Binax is able to share audio signals between 4 microphones (assuming the listener is wearing 2 hearing aids) in real time. By sharing the audio signals, the hearing aids are able to create a virtual 8 microphone network. Both hearing aids process the audio information from all of the microphones simultaneously. This larger microphone network allows for a more sensitive array called High Definition Sound Resolution (HDSR). HDSR enables the listener to experience a heightened sense of clarity while maintaining superior sound quality. HDSR also leads to improved localization and speech recognition.
There are other key features that makes the Siemens Binax hearing aid one of a kind. If you are interested in learning more about this innovative product, contact Desert Valley Audiology today for a demonstration. We would be happy to show you all that the Binax has to offer!
